Financial Aid

The Brown Ledge Foundation is well aware that this past year has been difficult for many families.  Please call or e-mail our program director, Timothy Shuker-Haines, to discuss what scholarship opportunities may be available to you.  Do not let money stand in the way of planning your Gap Year.  The Brown Ledge Foundation is committed to making our program accessible to students who want to learn documentary skills, travel and examine the United States, and live in a supportive, caring community.

In addition to need-based aid, in 2010 we are offering a single competitive merit scholarship for students who have a body of existing work in video, photo or radio.  This scholarship will cover the total costs of the program.  Students who are interested in competing for this scholarship should complete the regular application  from the website.  They should also include a short essay (under 500 words) on why they deserve the scholarship and they should submit examples of their media work, which does not have to be documentary.  Media work can be submitted as a link, file or disk.  The deadline for the merit scholarship is April 15.

If you have questions about need-based financial aid or about the merit scholarship, contact Timothy Shuker-Haines, Director.
