Rest of Year
The Brown Ledge Gap Year is designed as a fall semester that prepares you for the next step, whatever that is. For some people, the experience of traveling within the US is a useful training for going abroad. For others, the independent living and internship might be a preparation for finding their own apartment and job in a new city. Others may be going straight into a spring semester in college. Whatever your plan for your gap year, we are available to help.
Advising Services:
We can advise you about a whole raft of programs—travel, service, learning—that you could explore in the spring. Or we can give you help and advice in locating internships, applying for jobs, and/or looking for a place to live. If you have not been accepted into the college of your dreams or you want to transfer to a new school, we have experienced professionals to help with the application process. As the fall progresses, we will counsel you about your plans for the spring, and in the spring, as those plans unfold, we will always be an email or a phone call away.
June Reunion and Reflection:
In June, we will have a reunion at Brown Ledge, where we can get together again, compare our experiences from the spring and show each other the work we’ve created while apart.
Whatever you choose to do in the spring, you will be able to do it with more confidence about living on your own, a deeper understanding of the world around you, and documentary skills to help communicate your experience.
