Road Trips

The Road

The Brown Ledge Gap Year introduces you to the variety of regional America through residencies in Burlington, Vermont; El Paso, Texas; and New Orleans, Louisiana, but there’s a lot of country in between! Going from city to city, we have left ourselves some time (seven days from Burlington to El Paso; four days from El Paso to New Orleans) to sample some of the amazing, weird and wonderful parts of America that we pass through on our All-Program Road Trips.

Maybe that means:visiting the artist’s colony of Marfa, Texas, with its giant sculpture installations, hiking in the Smoky Mountains, seeing the largest Twine Ball in Cawker City, KS,taking in a night of music in Austin, rafting down the Rio Grande …

Big Bend National Park

The start point and end point of our trips are set, but you and your peers get to decide the route in between during your orientation in Malletts Bay.

We have the time and a van; we’ll decide where to go, when to stop, and what to do depending on the group’s interests.
